For some of us exams are a long way behind us however I have to admit I still wear the scars. Not only did I get stressed doing the exams but also whilst revising. What I thought was well documented when I re-visited to revise seemed all too confusing. It is only now that I realise that if I had understood worry beads then it would have been a whole better experience.
There are two types of worry beads, ones with a weight at each end (trick beads that we call 2Pear) and the other a number of stones strung on a cord that can be moved up and down (1Pear in all its variants). At The English Worry Bead Co we have expanded on this but they all have the same basic design. How they work is in two distinct ways, as a distractor and as a relaxer. Firstly, once semi-accomplished with trick worry beads you can use them as a distraction from revising and the impending exams. They give your mind something simple to focus on, a trivia that when used slowly relaxes you, lowing your heart rate in time with the motion. Playing with the strung stones moving them between your fingers also is very relaxing. The stones and woods have been chosen to give a pleasant visual and the wood is highly tactile. We also supply a tin of wood and leather finger wax that you can rub into the wood and leather. The warmth of your hands releases a soft aroma of pear that tickles your sense of smell.
So all this relaxing stuff is all well and good however that will not get the information learnt or your exams passed. Well actually it will. Your brain is far more receptive to learning when you are relaxed. As to the exams themselves, by remaining relaxed your memory recall is far better. I am not claiming that by using worry beads you will do better in your exams, that would be almost impossible to prove however the stress that comes with revising and taking exams can be reduced which means they will be far less of an ordeal. Whilst I make no claims, what do you have to lose, but potentially lots to gain!
